Passion and energy define speaker Linda Jimenez, the Chief Diversity Officer & Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion for WellPoint, Inc., the nation’s largest health plan. In this role, she directs all aspects of WellPoint’s diversity management strategies and programs nationwide including but not limited to providing strategic guidance around talent management and acquisition, multicultural marketing, diversity metrics, external branding as a national leader in diversity management and the reinforcement of WellPoint’s culture of distinction brand.

Linda Jimenez learned from an early age that hard work drove success. When she graduated at the top of her class from high school, the San Antonio native had great expectations for a really nice ride. Her father, a retired Air Force Colonel, promised her a car if she maintained a 4.0 grade point average. Either a new Mustang or Camaro would be a great choice, she thought.

“Instead, he gave me a used sedan with U.S. Government painted on the doors, a plastic interior, and no radio,” Jimenez said. Her father told her the car had a “4-60 air conditioner.” That was because to cool off, “…you could roll down all four windows and go 60 mph.”

Jimenez’ mirthful dad then hugged his high-achieving daughter, who would later graduate with honors from the University of Texas at Austin and receive a Juris Doctor from UT Law, and told her, “I just gave you a push to help get you where you want to go.”

Today, hard at work in the healthcare industry, Linda Jimenez vigorously advances the high-level thinking necessary to meet the needs of a rapidly changing industry.

A key concern in the healthcare evolution is cost containment. Jimenez says, “It is critical that we better incorporate transparency, technology, along with prevention and wellness into health care delivery (if we are) to significantly address the underlying cost drivers of care – in all sectors of the health care system.”

At the consumer end, wellness and prevention is another key to eliminating downstream costs for individuals,” Jimenez says. “Encouraging and empowering individuals to live and lead healthier lives can save enormous costs in the future.”

Ms. Jimenez has extensive corporate experience in the field of diversity and human resources and was recently ranked #4 by UPTOWN Professional Magazine among the 100 Top Executives in America. She has been identified as one of the Most Influential Hispanics by Hispanic Business magazine and is also the recipient of the National Eagle Leadership Institute’s Eagle Award - one of corporate America’s highest accolades in executive leadership achievement.

Prior to her current role Ms. Jimenez started her own consulting company specializing in the customized design and delivery of training programs, seminars, and coaching: She is a frequent speaker and panelist on topics including Human Resources; Diversity & Inclusion; Leadership; Team Building; Management Development; Employee Relations; Strategic Planning; Time Management; EEO, and  Employment Law.
